briggs did start for ball state this past weekend. the circumstances down here with the incident that involved Dante Love (the injured BSU player) were terrible, but he will lead a normal healthy life after rehab. but in his place briggs caught 10 passes for 112 yards. the catches doubled his season total and the yards were pretty close to doubling too. our coach says he is the most mature of all the true freshman and one of the most mature he has ever coached.

Briggs will do well at Ball State. He has the opportunity to focus on one position there.

Freshman quarterback Dailyn Campbell stepped in late in the second quarter and helped key the Penguins in the contest. Campbell had not played for YSU this season. Redshirt freshman Paul Corsaro started and the Guins played withoug Brandon Summers who was injured last week at Southern Utah.
Campbell had 35 yards rushing while completing 17-of-22 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. Scott finished with three touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving.

Joe Horn from Waynesfield-Goshen has 61 catches for 934 yards and 8 TDs in his first starting season for the Ashland U Eagles.

Ashland enters the NCAA D-2 playoffs this weekend ranked #17 in the country this weekend.

Horn set a single game kick-off return mark in the first game of the season (5 returns for 164 yards) and he and WR teammate Nick Bellanco have set a new GLIAC record for most yards by two receivers in a season (1,991) breaking the record of 1,867 yards set in 1999 by two receivers from Ferris State.

Above, Horn hauls in a 48-yard pass from AU QB Billy Cundiff against the University of Indianapolis back on November 1st.

Watched briggs the other night and he looked great! It's awesome to see a local star in the spot light. Also, Zac Dysert is redshirted and hopefully he will get his shot next year!

Unfortunately for Zac, he has a redshirt JR and a redshirt FR in front of him who are both playing this season. I'm sure he will get his shot eventually.

With the quarterback play at Miami this season, I would think he'll be given a chance in at least a few games, whether it be in mop up duty or otherwise.

Joe Horn (2006 Waynesfield-Goshen) hauls in a 66-yard pass from Ashland U QB Billy Cundiff, to put the Eagles up for good, 20-16 over the visiting Minnesota State Mavericks in the NCAA D-2 playoff game held at Community Stadium in Ashland on 11-15-08. The Eagles prevailed 27-16 for their first-ever playoff victory.

Horn had 4 catches for 113 yards and a TD, bringing him to 1047 yards (and 9 TDs) for the season - he and teammate Nick Bellanco (1070 yards - 9 TDs) are the first two 1000+ plus receivers in the same season in AU's history.

The Eagles travel to Allendale, MI to face the nation's #1 team, and SR3 #1 seed, Grand Valley State, on 11-22-08.

Good luck Eagles!

Justine Raterman from Versailles is now playing hoops at UD. She started her first game last night and had a monster double double of 27 points and 15 rebounds along with 4 blocks and 2 steals. UD lost the game however to #25 Old Dominion.
