A couple Elida boys went to the Super 32. Brunk, Leis and Green. Was looking at the website. Brunk was 4-2, Leis 1-2 and Green 2-2. Wittkamp had to drop do to an injury. Taz any idea on the talent level of their matches?
Only if this Senior class could be a Team and not individuals. Been watching them since their Freshman year. Hope it doesn't rub off on the younger kids.

This year may feature the most talent the WBL has had in years. Even though Van Wert, Celina, Shawnee, Elida, & Wapak could have multiple state qualifiers. I'm picking Bath. I think top to bottom, they will be the most consistent. Good Luck to everybody!

Ok..I will bite for it....Share buckwild...how is bath top to bottom?
I could be wrong but they have Beemer and Hefner. Maybe Mcginnest and Meeks. Who after this? No upperweights after Micginnest. So, howwill there fair in a dual meet?

How's Shawnee looking this year? I believe I heard they have a new coach? Will this be good for them?

Shawnee inmy opinion and onlymine is over rated. Name one other than Wasam that has a shot at doing anything? They may feel every class but it should come down to studs verse non studs. Scheduleisweak and from what I have heard ofthe new Coach that will change shortly.

Darkrider-- Shawnee will struggle early as they are very young and lack experience for the most part. Filling out a full lineup could be problem since some of the kids are not coming back out. With that being said they will get better as the year goes on so it would be better to face them early. The schedule was inherited and you are correct that it is not what would be desired but that was put in place by the old coach. He did not believe that the kids could handle a tougher schedule, sometimes the tougher life is we utilize are ability and strive to be better. I think we are selling both van wert and celina short. thumbup1.gif

Celina should be solid with 6 district qualifiers returning Baskett, Doner,Doner,Dues,Temple, Welker.
Coach Doner and Wagner do a very nice job with program.

The year is upon us...5 days away. People are starting to talk a little. It will be a competitive league this year. Talent is up. Myself I do believe Wapak is the one to watch. Young and competitive across the board. Look what they did at the WBL and sectionals. I underestimate no one and Elida will see VW right out of the gate.
Skipper - Goodluck to the boyrs out there, it's ashame most other Celina parents and fans can't have the same respect as you have. Shoot me a email if you get a chance.

As a whole the WBL should be very fun to watch. There will be very few off weeks, new coach Sanchez at Shawnee...Bath transplant...

The Bath Program is coming together nicely and I believe there are a few posters here that are not giving those Saliva Bulldogs credit..watch'em!

Each team throughout the WBL seems to have thier high points... Watch out for a great duel season and an even better WBL tournament!

1. WBL Champions Wapak. Wapak is definitely the favorite in the wbl this year. They return a state placer and qualifier, add in younger beemer and they probably wont be touched. Good young crew that is continuing to develop. It will be hard to beat them in a dual and they have a lot of guys that should win the tournament.

2. Runners up. Bath. Bath will finish second this year. The sensational freshman Meeks who is nationally ranked among freshman will make a lot of noise. State Qualifier Beemer should also go undefeated in the league. State Qualifier Hef should be a state placer, and mcginnis and mault will be tough to beat. This will be a very tough team to take out.

3. Shawnee. Shawnee was tough last year and will only get tougher with coach sanchez in charge. Sanchez will look to dominate the league in the years to come. Washam will lead the way and probably place at state. Sanchez does not accept losing and will demand winning.

4. Celina. Celina always has a really strong team. Dues will take care of business, and doner, doner, braun, basket, welker and temple will be strong. I give them the edge over elida because elida seems to only do good at tournaments.

5. Elida. Elida will be tough again this year. Whitcamp will win the league and probably place at state. Green wrestled for team stomp this offseason and should also improve. If they become a better dual team they may move up a spot or two.

6. Defiance. State placer BJ Miller will lead the way and is the league champ at whichever weight he falls. Gonzalez gets better every year. Wagenhouser seems to be coming on strong.

7. Van Wert. This team may prove me wrong and could end up towards the top but I think they lost a few good kids. Massilo is a great athlete and may place at state. Not sure if noggle is back but he is also real tough. They are always near the top so I am worried about putting them this low.

8. St Marys. They have Lauth who is tough and Neal who should place at state. Other than that there is not much talent. I think they also got a new coach, but don’t think he is anything like sanchez.

9/10. Kenton, OG. Like always these two will battle for the cellar in the league.

2fast-- I believe your selling defiance and van wert short they both will end up in the top 5. Bath might be a little high and shawnee will have to prove something before their in the top 5 as they will be real young.

1. Wapak may be the leading top candidate due to their showing at sectionals last year. They will fill the entire linup. They have 3 guys that can possibly win the Tournament with one being a for sure (ERB).
2. My opinion you have Bath to high. Hefner, Beemer and Meeks is all they really have that are strong. MGinnest is not so for sure. Weight class will have alot to determine on where they can place in the WBL.
3. My biggest concern on your list is Shawnee. How can you list them 3rd? They have Washam as the only true leading Wrestler. There are some good ones left but they have no one else that can be a leading candidate on their weght class. I'd love tohearamore precise inner look for me and many others toby into.
4. Celina has Dues. After Dues(Alex) who dothey have left that can trully make noise? Maybe basket. After that tell me who. Now for the Duals they can hurt you since they fill every class.
5. Elida 5th. You just gave the boys over at the orange and black Bulldogs some bulletin board material. They should be filling every weight and are strong with possible champs with Brunk, Troyer, Green and Whitcamp. Throw in the older Leis and a surprise(I think) at a lower weight and you may have a possible 6 wbl Champs.
6. Defiance is alot stronger than most think. They should fill all weights and 2 possible qualifiers if not placers. I don't think they can win it but they will surprisemany.
7. Van Wert is another that is to low probably. Yet someone has to be. They return Massillo that will battle for the title and Custer who may finish 2nd. Noggle i am not sure to sold on but can't underestimate.
8. St. Marys I think you have correct. You have Lauth and Neal. Lauth will depend on where in weight. Neal is your WBL HWT Champ.
9/10 Kenton and OG. Self explanatory. Not football or basketball.
With all this said how can you see a clear favorite?
1. Wapak
2. Elida
3. Celina
4. Bath
5/6. Van Wert / Defiance
7. Shawnee
8. St.Marys
9/10. OG / Kenton

2fast -
Where did you go? I'd like to hear more of your feelings on Bath being so high as well as Shawnee. I am not even part of Elida anymore and don't see how you can overlook them. In my opinion it is most likely down to Elida and Wapak. Where one Team is strong the other isn't. It balances out. It will come down to the uproven kids. The early WBL Pool tournament is going to decide alot.
Think about where Beemers and Erb are at in weight. Elida with Brunk Troyer Leis Green and Wittkamp. Now throw in younger Green and Painter. One of the Coaches was talking of a 112 kid that used to be one of the areas top kids is back out. The only true weight class they are weak I do believe is HWT.
I don't think Bath and Shawnee can say anything like that.
Washam can only wrestle one weight class. He better be 152 cause Green will beat him at 160. You have Croft and who else?
Bath has Hefner and Beemer returning with a solid meeks. Thats it. They have to hope McGinnest falls into a good weight and Mault isn't that good to be honest. The rest ofteam isn't as solid as Celina, Van Wert.
Celina could be an upset in the making. If you can call it that. No true outstanding after Alex Dues just solid guys.
Van Wert is baffling me. You have Custer Ithink at 215 which should be a solid runner up, Massillo and Noggle, depending on weight. If he is at 171 you could have a good year.
Don't underestimate Defiance. Program on rise again and solid. 2 Potential state placers and rest are solid.
Sorry just don't get it.
St. Marys doesn'thave enough...period. Lauth will depend on weight. 171 it will be a battle between him and Noggle. Neal is solid points.

Sorry darkrider, my feelings havent changed much. Wapak stays on top for obvious reasons. They are solid all the way through and beemer and erb will probably pin through both the duals and tournament. The boys have been training harder than any other league team in the offseason and it will show. The reason that I keep Bath up in the 2 spot is becuase they have alot of guys who are pinners, they will likely take advantage of this in the spots where Elida is week and beat them at the dual. I think they will have 4-5 pins against even the top teams in the league which will put them in a good position in the end. I see mcginnis having a breakout year giving them 4-5 tournament champions. Westerback has been coaching the kids all summer and looks like they are ready to take it to the top of the league. I will move Celina to the 3 spot, like you said they dont seem to have alot of standouts but have the kind of lineup that could knock off anybody in the league. I dont think Dues will get the push he needs in practice thought. I move Elida up one spot to 4, Elida seems to be doing all the right things in the offeseason but seem to choke early in the season. This will probably cost them again. They definately have the most studs in the league and seem to have for the last few years but these few individuals havent been able to carry the team. Whitcamp, green, and brunk could all end up being champions. Shawnee slides down to the 5th spot but I still have a hard time doing this. Sanchez is the best coach in the league and its only his first year coaching, watch out in the years to come!!!. He will have the boys ready by tournament time and like I said coach chez only knows how to win. Defiance is in 6. They would probabably be higher but someone mentioned gonzolez is out until january, I have only heard this on here and hope he will be back sooner. He is a good kid and if he is around for tournaments him, miller, and wag will take defiance into the top 3 or 4. Its tough for a kid to have some thing like that happen to him his senior year and we are all pulling for his healthy return. Van Wert still could suprise some people but only have 2-3 real threats. Massilo is gonna place at state. Custer and noggle should also make deep runs. St marys may move up because neal will pin everyone in the league and lauth may also win the league. Kenton has football, and OG has basketball enough said.

2fast- this is going to be interesting with you here posting.
1. Sanchez is uproven as a Coach so to claim him the best Coach is ludicrous. It is his first year. I'dlike to know your definition of what makes the best Coach? Westerbeckisas accomplished if not more as a Wrestler, Wapak has big ol' Ros and a tradition he seems to be living up to. There is an oldguard in the WBL and it is slowly changing. May I ask why you are so high on Sanchez?
2. I agre with Wapak. Solidwith a top big three. Erb is the only one though that has a clearpath to a WBLChampionship. Both Beemers will depend on where they are at weight.
3. You are way to sold on Bath. So, your going to tell me Josh Beemer will pin Troyer, Brunk, Miller, Gonzalez, Beemer? Meeks is good and all but I don't think he will even be able to pin everyone. That is a Big Bad Bold statement. All these boys have the possibility at being at the same weight class. Who else does Bath have that are pinners? Who am I forgeting? Forget Elida fora sec. Your saying Bath has the squad to pin alot? You gotta say more than you are to make me believe and probably many others. Beemer will have a fight on his hands for WBLChampionships. Hefner may have the clearist path depending on weight class. Mcginnist, has toprovesomethings. Meeks, awsome kid still hard to come in as a freshman, let's see weight class before riding the band wagon. Ok, who else? No HWT,215,189,170,160,152,103 and who at 122? Maybe you know something others don't. Many of these kids have been on the mat just as much as Westerbacks spring and summer sessions if not more.
4. We agree on Celina.
5. Elida - You my friend are underestimating them and providing nice bulletin board material. Ifany team has a squad of pinners I am sorry, I give the nod to Elida. I do believe Beemer got pinned at the County tournament last year. Saw it on tv. Elida chokes? There is a difference of not having kids healthy or numbers and choking. I was looking at some results, they were in every dualbut gave upo to many voids to stay in it. Choke is another good bulletin board material.

The rest we mostly agree on.

I still can't get over on the Love for Shawnee when they have one stud.
