VBwatcher...lets not throw all of the "horrible Sportsmanship at riverdale... I mean we did clear a ball out of bounds due to a one of VB's injuries. Then we never got the ball back. Its a pretty universal thing that if you had the possesion and clear the ball due to an injury, that in turn you will recieve the ball back to the team with possesion once play starts again. And, as far as hacking goes, IT WENT BOTH WAYS. And we did get our guys under control where i over heard a VB kid saying he was just going to start hacking people for no reason?? On another note, our second goal wasnt offsides..Ball was played before jonny broke through the last defender. I also due agree there was poor officiating All GAME But go figure, its happened all season to just about everyone in the d3 area. Good Win falcons!

I'm gonna touch up on some points real quick. My wife is calling for lunch.
1. Whenever Riverdale would get the ball, and was going to get a breakaway, VB would just foul. Ok, I get it, tactics. Yes, but you don't foul them as violently as VB did.
2. Why does VB need 25 coaches on the sideline, when all they have to say is water bottle and that's their play. I don't think you need 5 coaches to teach fouling tactics nor water bottle.
3. Van Buren DIVES. Let me repeat that, DIVES. They're not light on their feet and just go down with a little thud. They actually dive to make it look.
4. Soccer moms know offsides more than the refs do.
5. The reffing was crap both ways. It should have more fouls for Riverdale and then there should have been more fouls for VB.
6. Riverdale is screaming for Riverdale's center back to clear the ball out for an injury, Riverdale does, and then VB never throws the ball back in to them. Very sportsman like.
7. And about getting hacked. Just because because you lost and you're looking at the game in tunnel vision, you didn't see VB hacking Riverdale.
This is where I'd say VB had a good season but it just wasn't their day. But for how their qualities I saw yesterday, no thanks.
Goodluck to Riverdale and Bluffton in Tuesday's match. It'll be a tough one for Riverdale.
Now for some lunch.
EDIT: I've eaten lunch and thought that I forgot to add that VB's goal was a good placed shot to float it in over the keeper.

I saw good sportsmanship from both teams....and some bad sportmanship from both teams... mainly bad sportmanship was from just a couple players on either side...but unfortunately those couple of players reflect on entire team.
Diving was both ways, hacking was also, as was the 'tugging' on anything players could get hands on. At a couple of points, the take downs looked more like football tackles than soccer plays. But that is where officiating needs to control the game and not the players.
As far as the last offsides...it was very close. From my point of view it looked offside, but I wasn't the one calling the game. The only perspective for offsides you can go with is what the officials see.
I was disappointed big time about a thing or two from this game. One...Both teams have finesse players. It is beautiful to watch their speed and control, but I even saw these players lowering themselves a bit to 'cheapness'. But, if that is the way the game is going to go...adaptation i guess is the word. The second ... well ... nevermind ...
Good luck falcons against Bluffton. If they do what they did to CR....you are going to need all the well wishes you can get.
But I will also wish Bluffton good luck - so now I am being politically correct.

I give props to VB because they played their hearts out.. They seemed to want the game more than riverdale did.. After Riverdale scored their first goal it seemed that they were content with a 1-0 lead. Riverdale lost that hunger, that urgency to put the game away when they had their chances. VB keeper had an amazing one hand diving save the second half. I had a feeling that the game was going to go into overtime with the way both teams were playing. VB's goal was a beautiful rip upper 90's from about 25+... The goal in overtime from riverdale when the mid played the threw ball was on side.. Grant had a very good game for riverdale.. This was the first time I have seen VB play all year and I was very impressed with the Troph kid..
How ever Riverdale will not stand a chance against Bluffton if they play the way they did against VB.. Bluffton took care of business with CR and did not look back.. they seem to be on a mission this year.. If Riverdale comes to play they could give Bluffton a run for their money.. It will come down to who wants it more..
Keep your heads up and good seasons to both CR and VB.
Good luck to Riverdale and Bluffton.. Should be an exciting one to watch!

I was at the game and it didnt even look like he was trying to shoot it, good shot anyways.. Riverdale definitely was the better team in OT i was at the game and i VB got on riverdales half one time, two at the most. They did relax way to much after their first goal. And about the sportsmanship. #6 on VB told the riverdale coach to shut up.. doesnt sound very sportsman like to me??? The ref was horrible i dont know what he was doing? I feel bad for the teams that he reffed because he could of very well lost the game for any team he reffed. A VB kid made a foul (i know riverdale did too) but the kid made a very callable hard tackle that should of been carded if Gil got a unreasonable call for encroachment and says hes sorry so the ref does nothing.. not even a word said to him

Good luck to riverdale as they play bluffton and will definitely need to be ready for this one!

Anyways, refs were horriable no matter what you guys think. Like another time I'm surprized you didnt see was when VB had tht free kick out of the 18 and the guys touched it then Gill from RD ran up, jumped and turned his back for a good block. Then the refs came up to give him a Yellow!

According to you, the second goal was not offsides. But that means you think the first goal WAS offsides. That means final score would've been 1-0 VB, not going into overtime and sending VB into the Bluffton game. But officials the entire game were poor. There were displays of good and bad sportsmanship the entire game by both teams, sometimes resulting in cards. For instance, Rdale's coach got a yellow and VB's sideline was close...
As for the shot, that definitely was a shot. You can't screw up that good... It was a perfect shot. I just wonder where that was the whole season... He'll shape up to be a fine player, as he's only a sophomore this year...
The hard tackle by the VB kid, #4, which took out the forward and injured the VB player until late in the second half, did end up being a yellow card. The ref said that. Said "Coach i got him down for a yellow." Not sure exactly what the call was tho... It should've been nothing or a straight red for and Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity. So... who knows what the ref was thinking. Soccer isn't what it used to be. Refs are afraid to show the red...
Lastly, I agree... Rdale doesn't stand much of a chance to Bluffton. No offense but Bluffton has dominated the field all year long. It may be a good game tho. We'll just have to wait and see... Good luck and great season to all the teams in the divsion.
