I have heard from plenty of people who don't come here anymore or as often (regardless of season). And morons getting ripped on for being useless or pulling crap to try and bring attention pointlessly to themselves (hey, sound familiar with your ridiculous crap about having the last post on every board) certainly isn't one of the reasons they've stopped posting. To the contrary, it gives them reason to come back and enjoy a good laugh.

I hear that. Pretty dumb move by that dude. Contributed nothing in most of the threads. Just wanted everyone to see his name.

Sorry sfb, you're barking up the wrong tree with Juan. He's been on the radio for years so can speak to what its like, since I didn't see that anyone ever told you, and he's got like 20 degrees, last I checked.

As to Marty, he is definitely getting a bitter. I think part of it is just being ticked that Joe Nuxhall didn't get into the Hall of Fame before he died. "Marty and Joe" were a team for decades and I think Marty sees his induction to the Hall as incomplete until Joe is there.

People can have all the opinions they want. I take you back to my opinion that Jeff Brantley "sounds like a wasted sailor who wants his mommy" while broadcasting. You say I am entitled to my opinion, but then attack me for it? Hmm...a little contradicting of yourself, aren't ya'? Practice what you preach. You're a little slow. We all get it. Nothing new. Just we here at the RC would like at least some minimum level of competence when posting. You haven't quite reached it yet, so come back when you do.

Am I better than all other posters? Hell no. I'm not any better than anyone else. Every person is better at something than someone else. I mean, just because I can debate circles around you on here doesn't mean that I can pick a wedgie better than you can or shell peas better than you or even lick a fudgesicle with your phenomenal fudgesicle licking skills. You're forgetting that most of that radio experience is forgotten due to the deliveries of alcohol made to my broadcast location! How many deliveries did you make?

And only like 1/5 of the 20 degrees, sorry.

And Marty has been bitter since the Reds pretty much forced Joe out of the booth. There's been a couple of occasions where Joe missed out on the Hall of Fame. This season just kind of added to the misery because Joe was Marty's best friend and it hurts him that, even in death, his best friend can't take a seat beside him at Cooperstown.

My opinion of Marty this year is still the same.

What is everyones take on Jay Bruce?

Very impressive 1st game 3-3 2 walks 2 rbi

2nd game very impressive also

I know its very early in this kids career, but he could be a great one.

Jay Bruce is awesome right now!

Volquez is still tearing it up, as is Hamilton. This might be one of the few trades that ends up even.

Jay Bruce is having a great start, maybe one of the best starts ever. I'd do the Hamilton/ Volquez deal any day. Volquez may be a #1 starter for years to come. Hamilton's doing great now, but his past scares me. He "suddenly" missed games last season.

Hamilton gets player of the month for May. He also was player of the month for April. Another impressive fact is he is currently 2nd in All Star voting only behind Manny.

I continue to be impressed with Hamilton's play. Just think if he did not have all of his problems when he started his career in MLB.


Still a smart trade?

Yes, still a smart trade. We needed pitching and could trade away an outfielder to get it. The other pitcher in the deal is doing good in the minors and could be here next year. Hamilton is having a great year but, like mentioned above, his past scares scouts as to what kind of shape his body is in for years to come. Does he really have a 25yr old body or a 32 yr old from all the drugs? Last year he played hurt until he couldn't go anymore at the end of the year. How will he do being an everyday player after the all star break? We will not know but we ( the reds) addressed an important area that needed attention for us, pitching. I think we will address that again come closer to the all star break as one of the big money OF's will be gone. Right now though the offense is sputtering and Griffey and Dunn aren't exactly tearing it up hitting .250. Dunn has been hot the last 3 weeks though but we all know his numbers for September.

Speaking of "that other guy" in the Josh Hamilton-Edinson Volquez deal, he just got called up to the Reds today to take the place of Kent Mercker, who was put on the 15 day DL. Danny Herrera has a 1.85 ERA between Double-A and Triple-A this season.

I knew he was doing good and was moved up to Triple A but was not aware of the call up for Merker.

So I finally listened to a game last night for the first time in a while. Marty sounded better than last time. He actually didn't make any bad remarks at his coworkers.

I don't think we'll know "smart trade" for a while. One of the fears was that Hamilton's body was 27 years old with 40 years of wear. When Hamilton turns 30, will his body have hit the wall or will he still be plugging right along? And will Volquez be another young sensation that succombs to arm problems early in his career? No indication of either yet, but ya' never know.

I still contend that the Rangers had given up on Volquez and the Reds could have gotten him for cheaper than Hamilton. However, they wanted to start making room for Bruce and knew that only an injury to Dunn, Hamilton, or Griffey would give Bruce a shot this season. (Granted, we've seen that's an incredible likelihood!)

After reading everyone's comments on Marty.......

All I can say........Marty is a great commentator.......if you happen to be a Reds fan....if not......he sucks......negative, biased...which you can expect, and I really don't know if he is all that professional........I don't care for him......

But, I am not a Reds fan, but always enjoyed Joe Nuxhall............he had that something that Marty will never have......

Please realize that these comments are not from a biased source!!!!!!!!!!!!!
