Heath Nickles, (Columbus Grove), future OSU decathlete & 2007 state champ, successfully defended his state pole vault championship and set a new D-III meet record with a jump of 16'-1 1/2". He just missed breaking the all-state record of 16'4" on three attempts at 16'-4 1/2......With him going on to OSU for T&F, I'm sure he will clear that height may times at Jesse O' in the years to come, just too bad it didn't happen today.
Heath's archrival in PV for many years, Gray Horn, (Waynefield Goshen) 2006 DIII PV champ & future Univ. of Florida decathlete, was unable to complete a full vault due to an already aggravated hamstring injury, but, not before he took the gold in the LJ with a leap of 21'-11 3/4".
Congrats to Heath & best wishes to Gray on a speedy & full recovery...Those hammy injuries can be rascals to get healed completely.
Good luck to all the athletes finishing up today!!

Yes, jb, major congrats to the B-town Boys & the Girls didn't do too shabbily either coming in at 5th!! Way to go PIRATES!!!!
I meant to make mention of the boys setting a new state record this morning while I was posting and forgot, but what an accomplishment!!!

I was wondering though, is this a DIII record or an all state record? I imagine it's DIII, but not sure......If anyone can set me straight, I'd appreciate it!
