Nah dude, was referring to the kid that said I am not on the radio blasting a co-worker. Many ppl know where my name comes from here at the RC. I think you may have misread some things. I love Marty. He's about all that makes the games worth listening to when the Reds royally suck. Thom is taking after his dad and making the games better, too.

agreed, atleast you never know what Marty is going to say...makes it interesting. I love interviewing the guy, he's not afraid to say this team is going to stink ...... sometimes its all in fun to get a good ole fashion arguement going...lol...all in fun of course

WONbulldog I do not know your occupation, but it seems by your comments that you are employed by a radio station or some other type of media. So to me that makes you and zoesdaddy a little biased.

Wonbulldog if you are calling me a "kid" then you have me pegged wrong. I remember watching players such as Pete Rose, Rollie Fingers, and Mike Schmidt play great baseball. Ron Jaworski playing for the Eagles before commentating for ESPN. Kareem, Erving, and Bird dominating the NBA. So sorry to disappoint, but I'm no kid.

I again want to restate that I do not think through the years Marty has been all bad, but THIS YEAR he is being ridiculous and unprofessional.

Well, you had a good many of us fooled if you've actually got hair on your legs. So far, you are pretty much pegged at 15 or 16 years old.

But hey, we've been wrong before...

You could be 13.

Just a thought.....if I remember correctly (and I could be wrong) the Reds themselves employ the broadcasters. (as opposed to a TV station) If he was so "bad" wouldn't he be let go? He's got his opinion and has NEVER been afraid to let it be known. It's gotten him this far so why stop now? And yeah Nuxy should be right beside him in the HOF!

Josh Hamilton

Josh Hamilton has better numbers this year than any other OF the Reds have. This includes Griffey, Dunn, Freel, Hopper, and Patterson.

Why would you get rid of Hamilton if you could see if you could get any value of getting rid of Norris Hopper and/or the overpaid Corey Patterson?
Hopper
Salary: $402,500
BA HR RBI OBP SLG

Patterson
Salary: $3,000,000 <-----Can you say over paid?
BA HR RBI OBP SLG

I do not understand why you deal one of your best players. If I were the Reds I would even consider moving some of the older under performing players instead of Hamilton.

Who knows how long Hamilton can play, first of all. His body has been through a lot. Texas would not have given us Volquez for Patterson or Hopper or Dunn or Griffey. Again, the Reds need pitching, not hitting. Yes, Hamilton is talented and is tearing it up, but I would still do the trade in a heartbeat. Jay Bruce is being called up right now, so we have enough outfielders. We don't have enough pitchers, however.

obviously i am in radio (or a form there of) i have been in the media industry since 1984 (zsportslive.com) currently as well as the delphos herald. yes i am very biased, i think Marty is one of the best. this year he is marty being marty. just calm down wait a few years and he will retire, let Thom take over and hopefully he will carry on the professional tradition behind the mic and the "this one belongs to the reds" as well.

Honestly, the Reds probably didn't have to trade Hamilton to get Volquez. The Rangers were so disenchanted with his performances at the big league level that they were looking to move him for whatever they could get. Hopper would have likely been aceptable. Of course, we'll never know, but I know I read about Volquez being shopped around at Winter Meetings for OF prospects, but there were no takers. The Reds were looking to deal Hamilton all winter, however, and pulled out another pretty decent prospect in the deal.

I would have loved to see Hamilton here another season as I knew he'd bust out if he got full playing time. However, I also figured him to play in maybe 125 - 140 games because of his health...which is why I was ok with the trade.

So far it has worked out for both teams. We shall see how that holds up in the future.

b-town pirates,

I see your point, but this is a message board. I will however look into getting Marty's email, maybe he can blast me like everyone on here during the game. That would make perfect sense since it would take away from the game....oh wait he already does that with comments about his coworkers.

Oooh...Phenomenal comeback! Did you learn that one during the "My Body is Changing" video last week?

If only I could be 13 again! I would save so much money on razors!

It wasn't a comeback. I was merely pointing out how ignorant your comment was.

Wow, doesn't look like you'll last long here. Or perhaps you are Victorian making a rousing comeback. The RC can always use another "whipping post."

And I think you have a poor definition in your head of what the term "ignorant" means. With your behavior and what you've provided to everyone on the RC to read thus far, calling your 13 years old is probably an OVERestimate of your age.

This is fun. Give me something new. The Buffalo Chicken Salad for lunch just wasn't entertaining enough for me today. I guess dissing on you gets to be the entertainment. WOO-HOO!!!

I like how you turned this topic into putting another poster down. You are a class act.

As for the other stuff you wrote in your comment I have no clue what you are talking about and take offense to some of your comments.

Hopefully The RC's membership doesn't drop because of posters like you.

Uh...wasn't the whole basis of the thread you started to put down Marty for raggin' on Jeff Brantley? Wow...you dun be real fast wit dat dar brain o' yers. Did you know dey make dem flyin machines dat kin take you from here to dar purdy durn fast? Dey kinda neat.

Think before you type. Gets LOTS of people in trouble around here when they show off just how ridiculously stupid they are.

Take all the offense you want. You're pretty much putting yourself in line to get repeatedly ridiculed on this site with how you've acted and what you've posted so far.

And I can only assume you meant "drop." I have heard from plenty of people who don't come here anymore or as often (regardless of season). And morons getting ripped on for being useless or pulling crap to try and bring attention pointlessly to themselves (hey, sound familiar with your ridiculous crap about having the last post on every board) certainly isn't one of the reasons they've stopped posting. To the contrary, it gives them reason to come back and enjoy a good laugh.

And membership is going up, according to the number counter on the full forum page. Unless names are getting erased at the RC, it is kind of hard for membership to go down, speaking in technical terms, of course. Now, whether those members continue to show up or not...that's something different. It isn't actually membership dropping, however.

Got another bubble to burst? My margarita isn't empty yet.

Again there you go again....

You're all knowing and no one else should have an opinion? Is that what I am getting from you? You are better than all other posters or maybe just everyone you disagree with? Should I hold off on giving my opinions or even posting here? If so wouldn't that go against the point of the RC?

I guess I am dumb and don't know how to spell....it's called a typo. If it makes you feel any better I fixed the typo.

Marty is becoming increasingly negative, almost bitter in his broadcasts. He has a very high opinion of himself.........his license plate reads HOF 2002......the height of arrogance.
