Yeah the Houston/Anna game has been moved back. but nobody knows when it das been rescheduled. its not looking too promising for Houston. no scrimmages before their first game yet. they drove to Arcanum yestterday, and the game turn around and was cancelled before they even got there. And your right, it looks like Houston might be able to go 0-4 during their first week. i think their Fort Recovery game is a DH.

I have been reading this thread for the past hour and find some very interesting threads on here.
First let's not forget that 3 or the last 4 SCL Champions have at least partially resided in ANNA. So the League is not just Loramie then the rest. I really think that Loramie, Russia, Anna, and Botkins all have a legit shot at winning it this year.
Second, the Anna basketball players have been in baseball for all of 6 days....only 2 before their first two scrimmages...so them not looking good...well we'll see. Big Daddy you ought to know that it takes longer than 2-4 days for "kids" to start playing well.
Third the Houston/Anna game was moved long before Anna made its tourny run. It was moved because of a band trip to Flordia that occurs every four years. This trip took 2 starters and probably Anna's 3rd pitcher with it.
Lastly, I have known Mike Muehlfeld for better than 15 years and there is nothing confusing about him. He coaches with passion and expects his players to play with passion. Does he get after it yes, that is what I love about this guy. Make the routiners, hustle, swing the bat, and make NO EXCUSES...has been his philosiphy as long as I have known him, and he's been pretty successful.
Good luck to all SCL teams this season

Good luck to all SCL teams this season
He's had a great regular season career, but what's his record in tournament? I played with a guy from Anna who hated Coach Muefield's philosophy. I can't say I agree with all you say bucks. He yells a lot, if that means passion then thats what it is. He's a great guy, but as a coach I don't think he's so great. They do have a great team back from last year, I believe I have them at the top of the league. Your Rockets will be right at the top in baseball too.

Well I know this, he (his teams, because they are really the only ones playing) may not have won many district titles or regional or state, but I know for a fact that he has never had ANY TAKEN AWAY, unlike a current county coach I know.
Your sources must be few and far between, because those I talk to loved playing for him. And if he was so bad, then why would three guys that played for him be current coaches on the staff and why would countless alumni come in during spring practices to help and volunteer time to coach summer ball. Sounds like your source may just be one of a kind, probably was lazy and uncoachable from the sounds of it.

That might be the case bucks, and if so, then I take it back. I have a LOT of friends from Anna, and the baseball players that I talk to all have relatively the same opinions of him. I personally like him, I think he's a great guy, but I measure a great coach by how he leads a team in the tournament. Billy Shoffner is a great coach in my mind. What he did at Lehman two years ago was amazing. Mike Wiess is a great coach. Bill Strurwold is a great coach. Covington's coach is great, as is Triad's. They win when it matters most.
You make him seem like he's the only reason Anna is any good. I'm pretty sur any decent coach could have won with the talent they've had over the last 8 years. They'll continue to be a tough win this year too. I'd like to see Mike get over the hump, I really would, and with the tournament sucess in basketball mabe it'll carry over.

Bill Sturwald is #1 in my book - he outcoaches many with his strategies.

Well, I guess you guys show your loyalty, like you should to your guy. I also see you show your age, YOUNG, because a GREAT coach should not be determined by how many titles he has (realistically those are the players). A GREAT coach, teaches with passion about the game he/she loves (so he raises his voice and yells, its called life), coaches with INTEGRITY (NEVER questioned in Coach Muehlfeld), cares about his players beyond the field (I know you don't believe this, but the number of Alumni that ask him to be a reference for something is AMAZING), and is all about the TEAM (not worrying about individual accolades). This is what Mike Muehlfeld is.
Some of the "great coaches" that have been mentioned on here, make me wonder, all of whom I respect, but....
One hasn't lasted longer than 2 years at any school and I don't think he has a state title.
One quit on a team because it was going to be more work to build them up than he wanted, he hasn't won a title either.
One has had to give a title back because he pitched a guy to many innings in a 3 day period (guessing not by accident), this coach also thought it was a good idea to put on a squeeze play up 12 runs one game.
Those "kids" you have talked to, I could probably tell you exactly who they are. They are the ones that don't appreciate anything, ones that everything has just been given to them. They probably didn't like the fact they actually had to work for the team (give up and AB for a bunt, etc.). In my OPINION, to look at the current coaching staff and number of alumni that are in during the spring and summer trying to help out the Anna baseball Program, speaks volumes as to what past players REALLY think about Coach Muehlfeld. I would go out on a limb and say that he has the most past players coaching or helping him with his program than any other program in the County.
I am done talking coaches, unless you guys want to continue to attack individuals by NAME....pretty childish...notice I didn't name any names (accept the one I was defending). If you know who I was talking about then obviously their reputation preceeds them. If you want to be positive toward a COACH or PLAYER, I am fine with that, but DO NOT ATTACK any one by NAME player or COACH, especially when you can hide be hind a screen name.
Now if you want to talk SCL baseball, past or present, I am READY TO GO.
The season starts Monday for most Good Luck to all, have a safe season.
I will give updates on Anna's games if I am able to get a hold of someone that went to the games... I am not sure I will be able to make all of them.

Pull down your pants 82Bucks82 and pull your panties out of their bunch. I'm tending to wonder if your last name is Muehlfeld? You have set everyone straight now on how you feel about your coach and support him and how every other coach discussed on here has their flaws. I admire your loyalty and am now very aware that you view everything with Rocket green blinders on. It is always easier to support your own guy but remember, others may see things in a different light.

Coach Muefield, for the last time, is a great guy, and a decent coach. period.
Bucks, we know how you feel about him, and thats great, back your guy up. I know a lot of kids from Anna who come out just like Loramie kids, with great work ethics. As you said, he demands it. I'm just saying, I know a lot more guys that DON'T like him that do. But those are just kids in the last five - six years, so maybe its just in the latter of his career.
The Loramie vs. Bellefountain game will be on 1570 WPTW.com, and I heard that scoresbroadcast.com will be carrying a few games of everyone in the county as well, in case some of us can't get there.

You don't have me pegged at all. Just don't like seeing people attacked by name.
My seeing everything through green blinders is no different than you or tribe guy or any other person on here seeing their way.

Anna opens with Covington on Tuesday...doesn't look like much baseball will be played this week in Shelby County though, lots of rain.
I hope scoresbroadcast does carry some games, those guys did a great job during the basketball season.

Asking a bunch of 17, 18, 19 year old guys if they liked playing for someone is like asking a 3 year old a question...they will change their mind in matter of moments depending on who they are talking to and what they want.
That shows how much respect you have for high school individuals. Maybe your experience with teenagers has been different than mine, but for the ones I know, once they got beyond 14 or 15, they usually were fairly mature individuals who adopted great work ethics & really put in the effort to improve on their skills.
Well, I guess you guys show your loyalty, like you should to your guy. I also see you show your age, YOUNG, because a GREAT coach should not be determined by how many titles he has (realistically those are the players). The majority of the comments I've heard don't really stem from games themselves, but commitment in the off-season, both summer and during conditioning. I guess if he has all of these alumni players coming back, he probably doesn't need to be present. Also, I disagree w/you on individual accolades. Of course, it depends on how an individual handles themselves. I've seen players on teams who think they ARE the team. They are not team players. On the other hand, just because an individual has great talent & receives accolades for that talent, does not mean he is not a team player. You can look at Loramie's success last year with the talented individuals they had on the team & the accolades their players received. Do you not think that seeing these players receive those accolades will help motivate other future players to hone their skills & play well? How many teams w/o great pitchers or hitters are successful?

I like how you bash other coaches & then say you are done with talking about coaches. What's worse is that you say you respect them. The only other comment I'll make is on the squeeze play when up 12 runs. In baseball, I've seen many teams come from behind & have one inning really go their way. I fail to see what is wrong with a coach using the opportunity to teach or practice strategy. I guess it would be questionable if in the bottom of the last inning, but then if the team was up by 12 runs, that portion of the inning wouldn't be played.

He's a great person to talk to and as a player it was evident that he cared about you. But as a coach he has been very lazy of late. I am almost positive he's seen less then 5 summer games in the past 2-3 years. He is extremely knowledgeable about baseball but his passion to develop great teams is just not there. Which is partially why Anna has struggled in Tourney of late. I'm not sure who said it but the statement about if he wasn't AD he probably still wouldn't be coach. I would completely agree with that. No other coach at Anna takes the entire off season off. The sucess of the program of late can probably be mostly attributed to the strong community and parents who for years have been developing the kids. and making sure they play ball all year long.
As for this year I think Anna starts slow but rallies late the take the League. (possibly tie depending on how long it takes them to get their arms warmed up)

I am not sure what you are talking about in terms of taking the summer off...he was at most of the games last summer, or at least the ones I saw, which was about 8-10 at least. Taking the off season off (being the AD, Muehlfeld has NOOOO off season), that is laughable...morning throwing open hitting, always there. I question if you are still "with" the program.
kids playing ball "all year long"....are you serious. you would be lucky to find a kid that plays more than the month of June of baseball....football, basketball, yes they play all year long, baseball no.
Anyway, Good Luck to the Rockets, open @ Russia tomorrow.
