So the Tigers lost some young propects and got a couple of aging veterans in 24 year old Miggy Cabrera and Donny Willis an aging 26 year old. LOL
Trading propects is tough, but when you can pick up a quality pitcher and perhaps the next Albert Pujols you`ve made out big time. Miller and Maybin may turn out to be studs, but with young kids there are no guarantees. Miggy and Willis are already proven although Willis has to bounce back. And sometimes all a player really needs is a change of scenery.
All those years the Tigers were known for their cheap owners and inability to make good trades and now it looks like the good dealings are never ending.
I`m pumped, so pumped I wish spring training started tomorrow, but I know Mr. Dromboksi probably has a few more deals to complete first. So I`ll wait it out for a few months and see what else they can come up with.
By the way, my brother told me today that last night he went to a game with 2 big Indian fans. He said neither one wanted to talk any baseball last night. And that`s all those 2 guys ever do. LOL

Showing your age talking about that trade...lol.( but that was a pretty darn good trade though).and I expected this reaction from the Indian fans....gotta love it.

As far as this trade goes-I was a Maybin fan, so I don't really like that they got rid of him...but there was not going to be anyplace for him to play next year in Detroit-so it is a good deal for him personally. How is this for a lineup>>>
Granderson
Polanco
Cabrera
Ordonez
Guillen
Sheffield
Renteria
Rodriguez
Thames/Jacque Jones

You`ve got to love that line-up don`t ya?
It hurts to lose Maybin, but you`ve got to deal something to get something. Here`s how I look at losing Maybin. He`ll be 21 next year while Cabrera will turn 25. Only 4 years of age difference and I`m telling ya Cabrera is one of the best hitters in baseball already. Although Maybin may be a great player someday Cabrera is already there. Maybin hasn`t proven out yet and who knows, there`s no guarantee he`ll be what Cabrera already is.
One thing I believe the Tiger management is doing with it`s players is this, they are selling the city of Detroit to them. They`re getting these players to fall in love with the city and the atmosphere. If they can do that with Cabrera then look out, a happy player is a productive player.
By the way, have you noticed the Tigers are grouping a lot of Latin players together on their team? I think those guys will jell together and keep them in the fold for years to come. At least I`m hoping so.

'Dido,
might I remind you of the infamous Rocky Colavito for Harvey Kuehn trade?.............THAT is one trade that Indians fans will remember FOREVER!

But I just thought of something else. The BEST trade the Tigers ever made was "Stormin" Norman Cash coming from the CLEVELAND INDIANS for Steve Demeter. How in the world did a forget that one? Demeter`s career consisted of 15 games with 0 homers 1 rbi and a respectable .087 batting average. While Cash went on to hit 377 home runs over a 17 YEAR career. ........................BTW, the Indians weren`t the Tigers farm club back then were they?
Can you say Lopsided? ..............And thank you very much Cleveland. LOL
