Did 9 people really write him in? If so then they deserved to be called idiots! I think we have a good mayor now, so hopefully he will stay out of the paper's and out of cop cars!

I don't think anyone believes that the last three kids who came to LCC their senior years came for the academics, they came for football.

Finally got to last nights stuff...

This thread was worth it for this admission alone! An LCC fan that can finally admit what the vast majority have known all along. At this point I could go on a nice and lengthy discussion of OHSAA Bylaw 4-7-2, EXCEPTION 5 which states...

Subject to the provisions of exception 6 below, a student may transfer to a different school and be eligible provided the superintendents of both districts enter into a written agreement that consents to the attendance and specifies that the purpose of such attendance is to protect the student’s physical or mental well-being. Only one such exemption shall be permitted in any four school years. The student shall not be eligible until declared eligible by the Commissioner upon submission of the exemption form.

I could talk about how the word "both" would disqualify LCC-fan from constantly blaming only Bath's superintendent...and how there is opportunity to take your own superintendent to task. Or I could chastise the idea that Bath's troubled running back needed protection for his own mental or physical well-being...yet his first ever official function as a Thunderbird was a football practice. Nothing like a football practice to protect the mental and physical well-being they always say. wink.gif

But I'll keep it short...happy in the knowledge that at least one LCC fan acknowledges that those boys were there to play football...and by default recognizes that your superintendent violated the spirit of the OHSAA rule right along with Bath's. wink.gif But we already know that nobody will question your own superintendent about his participation in violating the spirit of OHSAA bylaws. Tough questioning by LCC coaches and fans are saved for a few internet posters! smile.gif

"yet his first ever official function as a Thunderbird was a football practice. Nothing like a football practice to protect the mental and physical well-being they always say."

Simply not true...he transferred to LCC last year. He was on the track team last spring. So, now I have proof that you really only like to "hear" yourself talk. Can you spell V-E-R-B-O-S-E???? And how do you possibly think you know the circumstances discussed in the administrative office about the eventual transfer when you don't even know when he officially transferred?

Well Will Play I am glad you finally feel vindicated with all your lengthy posts. However, when you choose to only quote one sentence of what I said and turn that into something else, it would lead one to believe that I have knowledge of what is in the heads of the parents who did what they did. While you and I can make the assumption that the only reason they ended up at LCC was to play football, we have no idea what reasons were given by the parents for these moves. Apparently, these reasons given satisfied all involved and again whatever the parents motives may have been to make the move, it satisfied the requirements set forth by OHSAA. What you or I or anyone may think is meaningles in regard to the moves and I welcome them and anyone else who comes to LCC for whatever reason as long as the requirements are met and the rules are satisfied. As I, you and many others have said, we may not like the rules but LCC didn't violate them and LCC will continue to accept students who want to come to the school and if they are released then they can play. The LCC president is not going to turn away any student who meets the standards and requirments. That would be foolish given the bottom line of finances. Once again, if there is blame to be handed out it is not towards LCC but towards parents and administrators from the schools kids are leaving and that pandora's box was opened long before jerry cooper arrived at LCC.

But rest easy tonite townspeople because Frankenstein is dead at the hands of a very good Patrick Henry team.

After repeatedly asking for FACTS of LCC's wrongdoings I've still yet to have a single poster take me up on my challenge. It's obvious that people will believe what they want to believe. What other explanation can their be for a bunch of grown adults to continually whine about something that they can find no factual indiscretions in? Oh well, we're not going to change their opinions and they're not going to change ours. It's a lot easier just to know I'm right wink.gif

Good luck to JoJo Krieg and the rest of the Lady T-Birds today in their first ever state title game!

I can't really see anybody doing that when your winning. It would be hard to do so if you experience success in a sport where you were normally not that strong. Who would want to ruin that. I also think its interesting that the only time we played a transfer was when Jerry Cooper was coach. And the only time we had a transfer come in to simply play football for Grove when Jerry Cooper was coach. Is that just coincidence, hmmm whistling.gif

That's a great point OhioDog5. I'm not saying that Cooper doesn't bring in transfers because it's obvious he does. Nobody can deny that. But he also brought in a transfer at Grove as well. The thing that irritates me is when Grove people complain about Cooper bringing in a transfer when he did the exact same thing at Grove. I have no problem taking criticism as long as it's not from someone being hypocritical (not directed towards you, just in general).

However, LCC received transfers (more actually) before Cooper and were still terrible. LCC is winning because Cooper is a great coach, nothing more and nothing less. It's the same reason why Grove was a great team when he was there. Coaching at the high school level in football is far and away the most important factor when it comes to the success of a program, and Cooper is a very good one. Heck, he took a team that went 2-8 the year before and led them to an 11-2 season the next year. I just wish people would give LCC a little respect sometimes instead of the constant criticism.

Well Will Play I am glad you finally feel vindicated with all your lengthy posts.

Vindication is not my goal. But since you mention it...the actual vindication started right at the first post I made on this thread. You know the part about how your coach and fans are a bunch of internet tough guys when it comes to criticizing Grove fan and myself...but tweet like little blue birds when faced with chances to criticize their own. wink.gif Of all the points that might have been made on this thread...one theme just keeps repeating and repeating!

You have all sorts of opinions and zero difficulty commentating on Grove-fan's and my thoughts, motivations,etc...but when your coach and superintendent are involved...chirp? We could not possibly know what was going through the mind of your superintendent when he signed Bath's best football player under the guise of protecting the student’s physical or mental well-being...that is the argument you hide behind for your own. No hard-hitting opinion on that matter...? There within is the hypocrisy of LCC debate. Different standards of rebuttal and silence are utilized depending on the entity being discussed. Most of you seem to admit that you think they were there to play football...but not a one of you can take the next step to question how in the heck your own superintendent didn't feel the same. You can't take this next step because you simply are not consistent with your willingness to criticize equally. Frankly, this is what makes these debates so fun for some of us. IF we ever get to a point where LCC-fan is willing to apply the same critical questioning toward their own actions as they are willing to do for everybody else...then the funny parallels (Bonds, OJ) become useless.

Out of curiosity (knowing I'll never get a response)...anybody seen firsthand all the mental and physical anguish that certainly must be prevalent on the LCC football team...?

While you and I can make the assumption that the only reason they ended up at LCC was to play football, we have no idea what reasons were given by the parents for these moves.

No we don't...but we sure as heck can discuss them. Your own have the chance to come on here and discuss the reasons...yet silence prevails. You own coach has no trouble responding when he felt it of benefit to defend his reputation. Knowing now, that it is acceptable action from LCC-officials to defend accusations on message boards...it is fair to say that the silence on recruiting issues speaks volumes. We know from this very thread that if there is opportunity to correct the record and paint LCC in a better light...your coaches, fans, and parents will chime in.

But none of you have even the slightest hint of intellectual curiosity to determine exactly what your superintendent was thinking...? First time I ever posted on this site about open-enrollment abuse...we had moderators and RC himself looking up my IP address to determine my super-secret identity. The curiosity was through the roof. I was accused of living in every NWC town, a BVC town or two, Putnam County...and don't forget USV. Ada and Kalida fan were up in arms...

The point is that everybody was willing to do whatever it took to debate/silence my point of views. I am one person writing on a message board...WHO FRANKLY HAS NO POWER other than opinion and written word.

Here we have a superintendent of a NWC school signing off on supposedly mentally and physically threatened athletes...and nobody is curious in the least...? These athletes perform fine...we hear no word about physical or mental breakdowns...yet chirp? As far as I can tell/remember, I am the only person who questions the direct source...LCC's superintendent.

we may not like the rules but LCC didn't violate them

In all my posts on the subject...I've never said they had. I just opine that they are swarthy scumbags deserving criticism for their willingness to thwart the intentions of the rules by abusing the weakness of enforcement and oversight. Other candidates for breaking no legal rules (at least that which could be proven beyond reasonable doubt) include Bonds and Michael Jackson. One takes drugs and the other fondles little children...yet they too can claim they "broke no rules." Equivalence argument aside...this is the intellectual defense posturing that the LCC-community displays. I just point out LCC flaws much as a news commentator might denounce Michael Jackson for sleeping in bed with boys. But you are correct in your assessment...your superintendent signing off on the transfer of a troubled Bath football player under the guise of protecting his mental and physical well-being AND Michael Jackson playing toddler-footsie are not illegal...or at least very difficult legal principals to prove beyond reasonable doubt.

I hope that clears it up. The last thing I would want to do is impugn the Thunderbird good name wink.gif by implying that they have been found guilty in a court of law. That would be as disingenuous as saying OJ Simpson was guilty. Neither of the prior two statements are true at all.

Will Play, the problem with your scenario is you make it sounnd like our school president went to Bath and signed their best football player like a free agent. There is not one TRANSFER student at LCC who came there without having a parent first make the inquiry. Once said inquiry is made BY THE PARENTS, they are told what they need to do and what needs to occur first. What happens after that is totally the decision of the parents and student involved. Clarett Fan said it best in that LCC has had transfers come and go long before we ever had sustained success and that it is the coach that has turned the program into a winning one. And as far as my bashing of Grove Fan it has always been in response to something nonsensical that they posted first. Yes that was a you started it first statement. I have enjoyed our personal back and forth and we are still where we were five pages of posts ago. With that I will conclude beating this dead horse with the statement that I am proud of our football team, our volleyball team, our cross country team and our golf team and all our students who continually conduct themselves in the finest of ways and all should be proud of their achievements this year and in conclusion, since Mr Ruggley only came to LCC to play football as some would suggest it was nice seeing him in Dayton today cheering on his LCC girls volleyball classmates to the state title!!!!! WAY TO GO BIRDS!!!!!!

PS and comparing LCC and what they may be perceived as having done wrong to OJ and Michael Jackson is a joke and does speak to your credibility in being such an unbiased speaker of the truth.

Will Play...you are a fool; a long-winded, pompous, self-righteous fool. It must be true because I heard someone say it. I "know for a fact" that you are a fool because a person that I know heard another person talking about you and they said it was true. Therefore, your reputation is sullied and your opinions are null and void (especially with your Michael Jackson, etc. ramblings). I have no real proof, but I "opine" it to be true, so that's all that counts. Spread the word. Will Play is a fool.

Congratulations to the Lady T-Birds on their state championship!!

I know it's probably hard for you to imagine, but sports are not everything at LCC like they are in some communities. LCC has strong academics and a lot of kids who's main focus is exactly that. They also have a lot of very talented kids in the arts. Just go to Encore Theater some time and you'll see a lot of them. The last 2 Allen Co. Jr. Misses have been from LCC (I suppose they recruited them, too). Or maybe it's a Jr. Miss conspiracy. There's more to LCC than football unlike some other schools where sports make up the entire social life of the community.

First of all, Congrats to the Lady Birds on a great accomplishment. Although I'm not an LCC fan, anytime a team from the Lima area wins a state championship I think it's a great thing and should be applauded.

Dawgbone..........of the 5 pages of posts so far, your above comments probably bothered me more than any others. Do you really believe that EVERY school doesn't have kids whose main focus is academics and are talented in other areas besides athletics? To say that the LCC community is above the lunacy that high school sports has become is just blatantly wrong. I would bet there are more LCC supporters that show up at the K of C to watch Thunderbird Theater than show up to watch students at he Encore Theater. How many communities even have such a thing as Thunderbird Theater. You go to the game on friday and then come back on monday to watch the replay and listen to Coop. Nope, no obsession with sports over there on Cable Rd.

First of all, I have never been to Thunderbird Theater in my life, but I do go to Encore Theater. However if people wish to go there, why is that a problem with you? I never said sports weren't a big part of LCC. I just said there's more to them than that. But, to people in small towns (I happened to live in one my whole life before moving in to Lima), Friday night ball games are the social life and an awful lot of people take it way more seriously than necessary as is apparent in the postings on here. I no where insinuated that LCC is the only school having students who concentrate on academics and other things.

Take my comment about Jr. Miss for instance (I was wrong about that, too. The last 3, and now the 4th, are from LCC). People on here took that and ran on another thread, even though they said they were being sarcastic. I was just pointing out that, no matter what the kids at LCC do, people in outlying communities hate them for their accomplishments and try to tear them down. I'm not part of the LCC community, but I feel badly for them in that people are never happy for them when they do well. They're kids for goodness sake!! I don't care if a kid from another school wants to go there...even if it is to play a game. IT"S A GAME!!!! And none of you cared when the other kid from Bath transferred there last year. It wasn't until the Ruggley boy came in. I guess it only matters to you all if the kid is good at the game. How pathetic!

And, this is the last post I will make on this topic because it appears pointless to the thick-headed, just because you believe something to be true doesn't make it so. Just because you believe something to be apparent doesn't make it so. All your opinions just make all this more important than it really is. There are stores full of boxes of Kleenex for all you cry babies. Make your own programs better and more desirable so that no one wants to leave and LCC will have no problem with transfers.

Is everyone at Encore from LCC. I suppose LCC people are the only ones sophisticated enough to attend such an event while us neandrathals from surrounding communities sit around playing cornhole and waiting for the next big game.

In the grand scheme of recognizing proportionality of importance...I might add that this "fool" has never participated in activities that would facilitate or condone the abuse of academic principles for athletic gain. This "fool" has never changed intensity of argument based upon blind loyalties (see Ada, Kalida, and LCC). This "fool" has never sunk so low as to abuse loopholes designed to protect the mental and physical well-being of minors in attempts to win football games. Need I say more?

This "fool's" offense is pointing out disgusting actions of administrator's, coaches, and parents of Limaland schools who have lost sight of the very reason we have educational institutions in the first place. This "fool's" offense is placing academic achievement as a priority over athletic accomplishment. This "fool's" offense is denouncing an entire system which teaches the lesson that it is ok to thwart the intention of the rules rather than teach character to "do the right thing."

If my defense of these principles and my consistent illumination of those who participate in actions to thwart these principles make me a "fool"...then crown me King of Fools. I certainly rather be an internet fool who champions good character and fair athletic competition than an LCC-fan who is complicit and/or implicit in condoning poor behavior if it leads to athletic success.

Will Play,

Why people on this site even talk to you I`ll never know. You`ve beaten that dead horse so often that`s it`s getting more than just old. If you need 10 bucks for the huddle I`ll give it to you so you can go over there and destroy their site.
Maybe LCC fans just need to ignore you and you`ll go a way. Far a way, like down south to Columbus to huddle huddle land where you can really spread your gospel of clean play. Why not take the hike where everyone in the state can spread the holy news?

Shadow, I am not going to play you said I said, I have known your posting for along time and you have always been fair. So unless someone else is using your name and password I am sure you will understand this. You make the comment comparing Thunderbird theater to Encore. Encore has many area students and pulls in a nice crowd to keep the theater open for all to enjoy. The students that perform there are quite good and the number of people that attend to support the number of people in the cast far out weights the number of people that attend Thunderbird Theater. You have made it clear what you think about Thunderbird Theather. That's fine, your entitled to your opinion. Just to clear somethings up for you tho it's not all about listening to Coach Cooper or watching a few films. We also get the stats of each player (on paper) from last weeks game, what to expect and who to look out for at the up coming game. We the parents also get a time schedule of what to expect for the week with our boys being at practise. We have dinner for those what wish to eat, hear what's going on with Mom's Club or the Athletic Boosters, up coming school news and anything else that might have to do with LCC. It's free and it's open to the public of all K of C members. Dinner and drinks are at cost!!

Why is it that just because an LCC fan or some fan of another school defends LCC you are now calling them Whiners?? "Clarett Fan..........What was so great about Dawgbones post? He/she whines about other people that whine about LCC and then tells others to go get a box of tissues. Classic........" Is Clarett and Dawgbone not entitled to an opinion because they support LCC?
