Who might be the jackwagon that decided to move the opening weekend of boys basketball up to Nov 27/28?

So now we will have to miss the end of the OSU vs TTUN game with a likely 3:30 kickoff!
Bad enough we still will have two weeks of football playoffs yet to attend.

Dr Ross and crew never do disappoint!

We have a really big OSU fan as our AD. He keeps that date and the saturday after open.
If OSU makes Final Four/ NC game, he'll bump the time up.

The boys season starts early this year because Easter is March 27. If the start date would be as it normally is then State finals would be over Holy week and would cause many issues I would suspect.

Outsider is spot on with the early Easter date being the reason. Whenever this situation presents itself, you always hope for a mild winter to help get all these games played with a twenty two game schedule compounding this. It really puts the squeeze on schools that have an extended run in the football playoffs, and put some of those teams on a temporary NBA schedule. I know that O-G has moved their opening game to Friday night to accommodate the fans who wish to watch the Buckeyes on that Saturday. Just one of the minor incoveniences of winter sports. The last time this situation presented itself was in the 2007-2008 season when Easter was on March 23.

Sounds like Dr. Ross and the OHSAA knew what they were doing.

Has it actually been talked about having OSU and Michigan kick off at 3:30. Cause that's literally only happened ONCE that I ever remember....2006. And everyone complained about it.

That's a noon game every year. Maybe I missed something saying this year might be different.

No nothing confirmed yet as of kickoff time... but make no mistake, if ttun keeps winning, ABC will push for a 3:30 start and we all know $$$ talks.

As far as it being Easter weekend. Easter is on Sunday not Thursday- Saturday.

As much as the Buckeye honks thinks the world revolves around Columbus, you do have to do what's best for everyone. And with a 22 game regular season, snow, ice and wind and you can't compact the season anymore than it already is. I'll guess Mr. Ross knows what he's doing.

No one forces ADs to schedule games over the first weekend of the season or on that Saturday. If your football team is good every year, you'd be dumb to schedule that first weekend, because it's probably going to get moved anyway. Just add a Tuesday game somewhere or double up Fri-Sat sometime in December. There are always (not necessarily ideal) options.

correct, Would not want to conflict with "Holy Week". What? It's basketball, how does that interfere with religion?

Some people really don't understand or really know what is important in life! Hopefully they get it.

I get it. Easter is important to me also. And as stated, Easter is on Sunday not Thursday-Sat, I understand different religious celebrate different, so should we cater for other religions also?

Holy week starts the Sunday before Easter which is Palm Sunday. Thursday is Maunday Thursday and then good Friday, Saturday open then Easter Sunday. Easter is a Christian holiday so it won't effect Jews and etc. Many know this already.

Do agree some games can be added on Tuesday or Saturday.

I guess nothing is more important than the beloved 'the Ohio State University' Buckeyes............sheesh....hell, the Buckeyes are not even that important to their starting quarterback.......and a 1 game suspension.....boy, that really hurts!!!!!

What type of punishment do you think fits this misdemeanor crime? let me guess- Barrett should be locked in jail for 10 years, and Meyer should be fired for harboring criminals..what everyone seems to forget here is that JT is human too, we all make mistakes.
