Looks like Northwood may be better this yr than last so I'm thinking this might be a good game or not.

The first impulse would be to say PH should have no problem. I think you can make a case that PH is a little down, and Northwood is a little better than usual. I still think PH has the edge however.

I dont think PH is down at all. I think the Bryan comeback got in their heads and were unprepaired for Archbold the next week. The real team showed up vs Wauseon. This team is better then last year IMO

I agree ober. The Archbold game really seemed like a mental thing. Not to take anything away from Archbold, but that was a whole different team that week. I really believe this years team is better then last year.

Does Northwood run the same style offense and defense as last year?

Northwood is better than have been recently when they would roll through the TAAC and then lose big in the playoffs. Still, I like PH, 28-21.......setting up a PH- Archbold rematch, which will be more competitive than the first game between the 2.

Here are some of the stats. The PH varsity has rushed for 2611 yards on 350 carries for a 7.46 average and 37 touchdowns. Passing they are 59-113 for 1242 and 10 TD's, which is 21.1 yards per completion. The offense has been a big play offense and has lacked some consistency since the 4th quarter of the Bryan game.

The strength of this team is on the defensive side, especially run defense. They have given exactly one 100 yard rusher this year. That was Schimmoeller from Bryan who went for 129 on 20 carries with 88 coming on one carry. In fact, only 4 teams have rushed for over 100 and the only team over 150 was Eastwood in week 1. The varsity defense has given up 646 rushing yards on 282 carries for a 2.29 average. Opposing passing offenses are 58-144 (40%) for 797 yards (13.74 ave). They have given up 136 points (PH 364), only 48 in the first half (PH 244), with 34 of those coming to Archbold. The only thing with the defense is sometimes they are a little over aggressive and get some penalties. They also don't create a lot of turnovers but when they do, they have 4 defensive scores.

Remember, these numbers will not match what is printed in the paper as these are only the varsity numbers. It does not include the numbers of the JV's at the end of the games for PH or their opponents.

Several, thanks tor the very thorough and informative stats.

You bring up an excellent point as a big chunk of the second half (on games where PH has a signficant lead) features JV players.

The key for PH is getting off to a fast start and not turning the ball over, especially on special teams as they are not always proficient at come from behind play making.

Isn't this the third year in a row PH has had trouble with kids not playing in the playoffs?

It isn't because of lack of trying from the coaches part. All players have had to turn in their grades (computer generated) to the coaching staff every Monday. The coaches can only do so much.

PH will be fine at the running back position.
