Will the return of the chosen one Doug Frye mean the end of St. Marys soccer as we know it.

It was said when football went in the tank their best athletes were turning to soccer.

No the soccer program benefited greatly from the woes of the football program. The soccer team was interviewed by tv 44 during their playof win and it was brought up that their was kids who normally played football now into soccer.

The kids that once played football now see it is just as fun having success on the soccer pitch. I highly doubt these same kids will go back to football until they see the ship sail back the other way. Until then, St. Mary's will be a great program and improve the competitiveness in WBL mens soccer. Which is greatly needed. Lack of talent league wise has diminished the past 5 years. And it's nice to see the Riders keep the ball rolling in success.

The truth is that the Riders' football woes have nothing to do with boys soccer. I don't have a dog in the fight but I know the players and coaches of both squads well. Believe me, what Andy Lynch suggested on TV 44 was way off base.
