My wife asked me about my bucket list. Told her I didn't have one. I'm not really into traveling but it's not like I wouldn't want to. Just not into it. After a little discussion, I found out I would like to travel but for different reasons than "to see the world".

1 - Visit every Major League ballpark, preferably while the Reds are there.

2 - Food tour! I've had some great Cajun food down in the bayou and would love to travel the US for good ol' American Eats. Go to Reuben's in New York and have a Reuben. Chowder in Boston. Pizza and hot dogs in NY and Chicago. Have an original Philly in Philly. BBQ in NC, Kansas City, Texas, and Memphis. And on and on. For not being a large man, most people wouldn't think I have such a passion for food.

3 - Write and record my own music. This would be extremely difficult for me. I'm very involved in music but to write my own is a concept I haven't yet grasped. Of course as a drummer, it's a little more difficult to write music since I don't know an A Sharp from a C Flat major. But isn't that what Bucket Lists are about?

I'd rather shower at Penn State than root for Michigan.

1. Visit Normandy and other WWII battlefields.

2. Buy a classic car. Preferably a convertible. One that when you roll down the highway people look at and say "That is a nice car"...

3. Hike the Appalachian Trail. Or- spend a summer hiking in my spare time.

1. Visit Alaska in the dead of the winter

2. Visit Hawaii

3. See old College roommates once more. We talk every so often by Facebook and e mail, but I'd love for us to all get together. Problem is we're in different states of the USA

After putting up with people for the last few days I am going to add a couple:

1. Get the kids out of the house.

2. Live with someone who closes the cupboard doors when they are done with them.

3. Teach my son to keep his car relatively clean for more than one trip. Seriously- is it so hard to take the McDonald's bag from the front seat to the trash can? And- this is beside the point- why do you need to go to McD's anyway? We feed you for free!!!

4. Go an entire day without a work related phone call.

1. I'd like to own a muscle car again. Had a '72 Nova that I have been kicking myself for getting rid of since the day I sold it. 2. Shoot par for 18 holes. 3. ?????????

1: Build a high performance street/track car from the ground up. The RCR SLC has been appealing to me lately, but I don't have the room/tools to work on it right now and I'm unsure on a powerplant. I'd rather break from the norm of the cliche LS engines and go with something lighter and more technological and take it around to some tracks within a days driving distance.

2: Tour Pripyat.

3: Move to Europe. Already have those plans in order, but it won't be for another couple years...most likely to Italy.

Make sure your car is running well before your brief tour of Pripyat.

1] Eat expensive fattening food and not caring. 2] Buying something cheap and selling for a 300% profit. 3] Not paying a federal tax bill without getting caught. LJ

Most of the tour is on foot, so that won't be an issue.

That's how old and tired I feel, that my last sentence counted as the third....lol

If I must have three then: that we actually have a RocketCorner gathering for all of our fantabulous members one day before I kick the bucket. :)

Do you know how long one can safely stay there? I would assume you would have to stay on concrete surfaces where at least some of the radiation has washed off.

No, not really. Actually, walking on concrete can be more dangerous these days if it was a reinforced slab, because the metal has a higher affinity to attract and retain nuclear isotopes. You can stay there as long as you please. They left one of the reactors open even after the disaster in 1986. Some people never moved and still live in villages within the exclusion zone. Most of the more dangerous areas are around metal areas like the amusement park or clean up/liquidation vehicles which retain more beta radiation, but even then you can go look around it and the guides will stop you from entering a "hot spot". Most everywhere else is just low level alpha radiation that doesn't do much of anything unless you ingest something containing it as it can not penetrate skin. Cesium 134 is the most predominant nucleotide left in the area. The reactor on the other hand is starting to crumble and still has tons of nuclear material inside. If it collapsed, it would be a mess.

Thanks for the info. If you google "Chernobyl Motorcycle", there is a lady who kept a photographic diary of her time there. Pretty interesting stuff
