All in all, I don't think the Bengals had much of a draft. They picked a RB much earlier than they should have, same with a QB. They came out out of the draft with no LBs, other than Ahmad Brooks counting as their 3rd Rd pick for this draft. 3 DBs overall, but no LBs at all, so you have to hope that Hartwell is in the bag for a FA signing. And some mega-ND love at the end of the draft.

But...hey...I wasn't too happy about last year's draft, either, other than their 1st Rd pick. So we shall see how it turns out.

the only A i dont agree with is the colts....i thought they should have drafted defense a lot higher, they spend their first 2 picks on offense and after losing Cato June you will need some help on d....oh well they arent my team to root for and peyton got athony gonzales while his rival got randy moss...uh oh

I think the Dolphins did fine in the draft. Ginn is better than Quinn, no question. Even where Cleveland took Quinn is kind of a "reach" in my mind, but he was the only other QB with a 1st round grade, so Cleveland made the move to get him and gave up a 1st rd pick next year. The Beck guy from BYU is much more ready to step in and make a contribution than Quinn. I think he has a few years on most of the rookies this year...he's like 25, if I remember hearing correctly. I hope he turns out, just like Ginn does for the Dolphins.

I think Beck was one of the oldest people to get drafted.....

Rashad Jeanty...proj. starter

Caleb Miller... good backup...3rd down backer

Landon Johnson...proj.starter

AJ Nicholson... injured 5th rounder from last year..proj as 2nd rounder until off field issues

Ed Hartwell.... Marvin knew he was in the bag guarantee...poss. starter

Ahmad Brooks...proj. starter

Odell Thurman...I think he's back IMHO...and he'll be as good as ever

Well, like I said, you had to hope Hartwell was in the bag. Had they drafted a LB in the 2nd Rd, like David Harris (whom the Jets traded up to get in front of the Bengals to take!) then the Hartwell signing wouldn't have seemed like a necessity. The problem is that their LBs are just kind of all over the place...They don't know how long Thurman will behave, same for Nicholson, Pollack isn't coming back this upcoming season from injury, Brooks has been slow in figuring out the pro game but should be better after a year of seasoning, Henderson has never played LB before and Frazier is really only a special teamer. Jeanty, Johnson, and Miller have all been shown to be injury prone. I think they needed one more LB, and if Hartwell signs like it seems to be likely, then they will have that LB. But he'll only be here for a year and if he performs as he used to, he'll price himself out of Cincinnati's range. It would have been nice to draft a LB somewhere after the first round, but as long as Hartwell signs, all will be well.

I guess I'll sum up the Bengals linebacker situation like this..... I think the guys we have or are getting(Hartwell) will be more ready this year as compared to last. Brooks missed all of the camps and got a late start... Jeanty was a rookie basically.... Thurman flamed out on booze.... and you lost Pollack two games into the season....

I think our linebackers played better than alot of people thought

I think they were forced to drop more into coverage than the coaches wanted because of the secondary... this made them look out of position alot

I think the improvemnt/upgrade in the back four(secondary) will help them to play a more attacking style/blitzing of the linebackers

I also think our front four will be improved more with another year of experience with Peko/Fanene... a healthier/lighter Adams... and Myers from Denver....this will help our first down yardage given up and will put the defense at more of an advantage on second and third down

I guess I'm an optimist, but I'm liking our moves so far this year on the defensive side of the ball... even though we're still getting blasted in the media regarding the defense.

That was the word a while ago, then they signed Myers. If they are still looking at Ian Scott, you have GOT to think someone is getting cut so they could bring him in. Would love to see Scott come in here, though.

Well, I wouldn't doubt if they were sour on ANY of their DT's, with the exception of Peko. And I am glad Deltha is still around...he may get burned here and there, but he's still a damn good athlete. Plus, you don't think that Hall is going to come in and start right away, do you?
