Many key players on OG's spring team are playing in other leagues around the state. How do you think they will do without them?

I think they may struggle a bit to find themselves, but in the end they should be pretty decent.
What is dissapointing is that they will now NOT have a JR ACME team due to overall numbers. I thing the ACME team will have around 19 players. This really, really hurts some Sophomores "to be" as once again they will not be playing much at all. Due to the JV team having 20-22 players, most of these Freshman did not get much playing time at all. So basically, for some of these Freshman/next year Sophmores...this year has been a complete waste in their development. I am not talking about the top 3 freshman that played Varsity this spring, but the other 5-7 Freshman that were really, really good coming up the system. Most of them are very fustrated....I hope they stick with it as this group could be very special if they ALL develope because that class' depth is what will separte them from the past O-G teams and other teams they face.

I see where Casey Schroeder is playing for the Napoleon Riverbandits Am. Legion team. That really surprises me. The Ottawa Legion team would have had to release him for that to happen, unless he recently moved or something. Why would they do that? Napoleon would never release a player they wanted to another team, no matter what.

I can't speak to Mr. Kersh's motives, but maybe they felt this was the best way to just move on from that whole vacation/camp/tournament incident even though that means giving up talent, and just let it go & start fresh with new younger faces coming in to the Legion like Geise & Hovest & others . As to the other Titan summer players, I can only hope they find a way to work in those younger kids so everybody gets some PT. Despite the errors in the high school district tourney

A player can play for another Legion team outside of their district during the regular season WITHOUT a release from their home district. However, if they are not released, they are not permitted to play in the Legion tournament. I don't believe Casey has been released from Ottawa yet..unless it has happened in the last week or so.

It's hard to believe that a school like OG that has some of the most talented classes in a long time coming up wouldn't have a junior acme team. The JV team was a trainwreck due to playing 18 kids every game....and the starters usually only getting 3 or 4 innings/game. That's no way to build for the future. If there was enough interest for a junior acme team, you'd certainly think that they could have got one put together.

As for Schroeder....the Ottawa Legion would not release him. He's playing for Napoleon but won't play in the District tourney.

Haha, Mr. Tousley will not be coaching. It will be the dynamic duo of former players Ryan Zender and Trent Haughn. Both have college baseball experience and will whip them OG boys into shape. Trent has been to practices and the first game, but Zender will not start until June 9th when his finals are over. I think the boys will have a lot of fun this summer. They are undefeated as of now after beating Columbus Grove 7-4.

Why wouldn't they release him, if he does not want to play in Ottawa? That is bologna. He probably wants to play on a better team with better coaches....

If Ryan Zender is coaching, like it sounds, it will be a good thing for the program. He did it a few years ago and did a great job with the Jr Acme team. One game away from playing at state. The kids loved him , too. He is big on playing kids and making it fun. He had a very enthusiastic, layed back attitude that the players respond to. With the addition of Haughn, and his pitching expertise, this will be a great combination for the leadership of the Titans. The young Titans will get their chance this summer.......no idea why there wasn' a jr Acme team.....lots of kids need to play..

To bad would of been a good game. with finally baseball weather. Not surprised key players playing differant leagues somtimes kids need different coaches with different views. It becomes a BIG commitment

I guess... I got the email correspondance showing the game was scheduled at Napoleon! $90.00 in umpire fees down the drain! NO WAY Napoleon would go to OG this summer, especially since they just played at OG this spring!

OG played a scrimmage among themselves. The umpires were used so it wasn't a total watse of money. Some players got some good playing time and a few at bats. They looked a bit lazy, but it was 100 degrees outside. They have another game tomorrow night against Shawnee. We will see how they do, especially since they threw most of their pitchers tonight.
