No I am not harsh on these girls, They were to know how to play a new spot, I talked to the one girl, she said she didn't know she could get any ball in that area. I told her any ball towards short that she can cut off is her job. She told me thank you and that she will go for them now.

Ha, ha, ha. As Jed Clampet used to say: "Wheeee doggies." I'm sure the coach was glad you coached his players up during season TrueBlue. Keep up the good work.

Oh good heavens -- are we doing this AGAIN? Let the Coaches coach, players play, and parents provide POSITIVE attitudes and cheer them all on. hifive2.gif

I'm with Joe wallbash.gif

TB11 YOU'RE going to have a loooooooooooong season if you keep this up. Has the team not done well the last several years? Advanced in the tourney? Has the team not had POY & COY honors? How do you think that happens?

So, you are going to start the season off questioning them . . . . so sad

In most programs, the coach has a meeting before the season starts and informs the parents that they are not to question their child's playing time or what position they play. They usually say the the job of the parent is to build their child up for the season, and cheer when they come to the game. We are talking about a varsity sport here. We don't mean to pick on you on this subject TrueBlue, but we are amused that you are violating a principal that we have all wanted to violate at one time or other but knew that we couldn't do so. Qusetioning the coach or players publicly has historically turned out bad.

Good luck with however you decide to procede from this point on

I am sorry I caused such a stir, but coaches have to make sure the players understand their jobs at the position they're playing my daughter has no idea what she is to do in center field or any outfield position, Center fielder is to give pitch location to other outfielders so they can get a jump on the ball. To back up throws to second. Take charge in left and right center fields. They must know what they're to do b 4 taking the field. This is where we will be hurting this year. This is why I say place players where they know what is to be done on each pitch. Unless you expect them to learn on the fly, I know you do not want that. There is so much talent to be used, so place the girls so they can use the talent they already have. I am the type of person who is straight to the point. If I seem harsh I am sorry but if you are to do something , do it right or not at all.

Sounds as thou YOU have ALL the answers so how is it you haven't relayed all this knowledge to your daughter? So, tell us oh wise one, what is the other alternative? Play an athletic girl who HAS played some outfield in the past or someone who has NEVER played outfield? Seems to me that the coach made a decision that would benefit the team and not you.

Having known TB11 for years, I am not surprised by the uproar. As far as his daughter, she's a good player, did a good job in that position, and she's played softball long enough to know what she's doing "on each pitch". And having coached in the past, I have a real problem with someone saying that playing in the outfield is A WASTE?!?! C'mon! If you know so much about softball, then you should know, the faster the pitch, the further the ball goes when hit, so we need good players in the outfield. TB11, I know your intentions are good, but you've got people avoiding you!!! Chill out and let the coaches coach! When it comes right down to it, we have a great team, and if people stay out of it, and let them and the coaches do their job, we will have a successful season!!! GOOD LUCK LADY PIRATES!!!!

What does Mr. Eding not being there have to do with the situation? You didn't even answer my question which was: Who would you rather have in the outfield? Someone who has played albeit a limited number of times or someone who has NEVER played there before?

So why would Coach weaken two positions instead of solidifying them? Seems counter productive to me. But, I can see I am attempting to argue with a intellectual superior so...you win. CONGRATS!!

We all want to think that our kid is 'THE BEST'. What good does it do to get on a public forum and undermine a coach's judgement, and belittle other players? By this age, the girls should know they don't always get what they want, and regardless of where they are put, they can either 1-do their best to support their team in the position they're given...or...2-throw a tantrum and go home. I have also seen Cambria play for years, she is a strong player, and will do a good job where ever she plays, if she gives her all. Just like every other girl on the team, they may not all be happy where they're at at the moment, and maybe after time that will change, and maybe not.

My #1 question is...why is Continental always the ones who look like idiots on here, because people can't SHUT UP!!!!

You can tell TB11 is a "newbie". Wants to prove to someone how knowledgeable he is -- THAT certainly is working . . . . sarcasm.gif

I agree with allsportsfan -- as a life-long Pirate fan it's hard to see a few of our parents forget about teamwork and sportsmanship. NOT all, just a few every year that make us look really bad.

btw what does "Mr Edding was a coy also not just Jordan.." mean?

GO PIRATES! GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON -- listen to your COACHES, play hard and have fun!

play where you are put, cheer for the team no matter what, dont like it, go home, dont waste others time...can I or cant I believe this is even being argued? this is high school sports, things change, you have younger players move up, some not play, some even get better than those who have played. If you cant handle that, maybe you cant handle being on the field. Better watch questioning to much, sometimes coaches will make a change just for their own good, and that may be, putting a player on the bench.

I watched it coached by one of the best ever. His teams were so hated because they were good. They knew the fundamentals and did them very well. This was over 30 years ago so nobody know him or cares. He would take high school girls place them on his team and not a beat was missed. So we will see if they r playing where they do the most for team or is it that same old story line here, like all other sports here.

I do believe I know who you are speaking of because I played many moons ago. We listened to the Coach and played where he told us and did what he told us. The COACH was in charge. Isn't that what you just said happened 30 years ago? So why are YOU deciding what is best for the team?

Stop being negative about the team and saying they are going to be bad. Do you expect them to not have any fielding errors or mental mistakes -- ever? Do you expect them to win EVERY game? Get real.

GO PIRATES! STAY POSITIVE! YOU CAN DO IT! clap.gif

Well, since you have the answers to everything softball...how about now working on balancing the budget, national defense, global warming , and....identifying the anti-christ. Honestly dude, give it up already. I happen to know who you are, AND a simple look through any old CHS yearbook will show that you NEVER played any varsity sports and yet you insist on coming onto a high school sports forum and dis on kids and coaches all the while telling everyone who reads these posts how YOU have all the answers. With that I will cease posting in response to your delusional rants. But, before I do, I will leave you with a quote by, I believe Abraham Lincoln: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." Sadly, it is much too late for you prideandheart / trueblue11. furious.gif furious.gif

No it does not, Jordan was a co coach of the year. Is all it meant. We will see how it goes since Mr Edding left.

I guess trueblue doesn't think too much of the other COY replacement?

A woman never tells her real age. . . . . . rolleyes.gif

I'm with Ben -- work on balancing the national budget and healthcare reform . . .

Anyone else ready to start a new thread and get rid of this one?

So give me a little Pirate history. Are you guys D III or IV? What kid of success have you had in softball? Do you always fight so openly like this? Is there bare knuckle boxing on the sideline at games? When maintaining the field, isn't it dangerous to have shovels and rakes around each other? Do family members marry each other in Continental? Do the farm animals, especially sheep, seem unusually frightened of the softball dads?
