Greg Micheli, Upper Sandusky graduate, led #1 Mount Union College to their third victory in four years in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, 31-26 over Wisconsin-Whitewater, in the Divsion III Championship game. Micheli was named the games Outstanding Player, winning that award for the second time, the only player to have won it twice.
Earlier in the week, Micheli was named the Division III Player of the year, an honor which takes into consideration not only athletic achievement but classroom studies as well. Greg has a 3.87 GPA with a double major in Physics and Math and is pointing towards Mathematical Engineering as a career.
In a related matter, Nate Kmic, Delta High School, rushed for 88 yards for Mount Union in the Championship game and finished his career with 8074 yards rushing, the most by any palyer in any division in NCAA history.
Congratulations to these two fine young men who, by the way, are roommates and best wishes to them as they move on in their lives. Props also to Mount Union coach Larry Kehres who has won 10 National titles at Mount Union.
