Ok, here's the scoop. The lease was dropped off today. Triple Play Team Training Center is located in the former R-Ville Furniture/John P. Timmerman building at the intersection of St.Rt.65 and West St.(St.Rt.115)....installation of nets/equipment is next weekend with opening the weekend after (14th and 15th).....coaches are encouraged to call Eric Kaufman at 614-619-1536 for info....local number is coming soon.

The facility will have a full infield capable of playing 6 on 6 games....plans are to have a HS softball 6 v 6 tourney the weekend of the 14th or 22nd (or both)....if everything is ready to go.

Also up to 3 cages with pitching machines and mounds will be available.

Hope to see you all there. Stop by next weekend to say hi....or help us with the work....whichever you prefer.....lol

Thanks for getting the word out Chevy. You can contact us at tripleplayteamcenter@yahoo.com
We hope to be an asset to the communities around the area. We are available for just about any sport where you need some space. Initially we are going to concentrate on baseball and softball to help everyone get ready for the season. We hope to have 10u and 12u baseball and 10u and 12u softball 6 vs 6 league up and running on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in March.
Our first big event though will be a couple of high school softball 6 vs 6 tournaments. We will run a 3 day event Feb 14, 15, and 16 as long as everything goes as planned in the next few days. Our second High school softball tourney will be Feb 22 and March 1.
We are also going to be offering beginning fastpitch softball lessons in Feb.
I realize that this is a discussion board and not an advertising forum so I will let it go at that.
Thanks
Eric

Corner of St Rt 65 and St Rt 115 (west st) on the north side of town. Right next to Diller Furniture...the big yellow building...can't miss it.

Chevy, could you give the people that do not know who Eric Kaffman is a little background info. Is he from Lima? Who is going to be running things, lessons, tournaments, etc.? How much will renting cages, lessons, cost? Those types of things. Is there a website that we could go to?

I know those places in the big cities charge $60 to $75 for lessons from old high school coaches. It will be nice to have something a little more affordable in the area.

I've got three young ones that would love a place like this. I know a lot of people have talked about putting something like this together, but nothing ever got done. Hope all goes well, especially in this economy!

1st off, to the RC, 66stang!! I'm more of a '64 'vette girl myself, but 1966 & Mustangs are still very important in my life, but I digress! rolleyes.gif Great to have you with us & we hope you have a blast here at the 'Corner!!

As far as your 'advertising', I'm fairly sure RM won't mind you getting the word out here in this thread, but it may be more beneficial to you to contact RM and see about taking an ad out at the top of the forums...I think it's only 25.00 a mo..I'm only offering that up as a suggestion, because I think you'd reach more ppl overall..... If you would be interested, you can contact him at eltonjohnisrocketman@yahoo.com , as I'm not up on all the particulars of that.

And thanks to chevy, once again for keeping us updated & informed! thumbup1.gif

Thanks for asking. Again, I do not wish to overstep and use this for advertising.
My wife and I are from the Lima area, originally, and now live nearer to Columbus. I have been involved with youth sports for over twenty years. I am currently an OHSAA certified Baseball/ Softball umpire and have been an OHSAA Basketball referee in the past.
I have been a softball /baseball coach for 18+ years. I have coached both High School and Middle School sports. I have coached high school softball and baseball and middle school basketball, soccer, softball, and baseball.
I founded our schools middle school softball program. I have also coached summer baseball and softball travel teams, which have played throughout the state.
I have 4 children, 3 girls and a son. Two of my daughters have graduated from high school. Both were 4 year starters/ letter winners for their high school and were recruited to play College softball. One was a four year starter as a pitcher and all league/ district several times. She has played across the U.S. My oldest was a 4 year starter as a catcher and was all league. My two youngest are currently Seniors in High School. My son is a 2 year letter winner and is being recuited by several universities for baseball and wrestling. IF he makes the state tournament in wrestling we may be closed that day!!!!!! My daughter who is a senior, pitched every inningg of every game for her high school last year. She was, I believe,( I would have to double check, it could have been with a week to go), in the top 5 in strikeouts for the central district. Much to my delight/dismay, she is also an award winning artist, and may not play this year. She was one of the top forty in the state in the Govenors Cup, and is looking at focussing on art in college.
I guess maybe that is part of why I decided to do this, my kids are moving on but I am not ready to quit!
We fully intend to keep everything very affordable, as we hope to see you more than once. No way would we charge $70 for a lesson. We are looking at half that! We are very open to working with the local coaches and by no means want to contradict anything they are teaching. We have invested in two profesional machines and will also have an intermediate and beginners machines, so we will be able to help everyone improve.
Eric

What team did you coach in the summer? I have been involved with travel softball for the past 8 years and there is alot of good talent in the Columbus area.

So we haven't heard anything for awhile, is this going to open this weekend? Are local high school coaches going to be contacted to be made aware of the opening and the high school tourney days? Just wondering what is going on?

Work started yesterday with the plan to be open by this weekend. High school coaches have been contacted. If your coach hasn't yet, have them email or contact Eric at the number/email address above. See you there!!!

Triple Play is in full operation. Stop in, I think you'll be impressed. Have had several inquiries from area coaches and the facility is now open weekdays 4-9 and weekends 9-9. . Pick up info on the upcoming 12U baseball league and 14U softball league. HS fastpitch tourney next weekend if there is enough interest. Also lessons for beginning fastpitch pitchers start tomorrow. 3 one and a half hour lessons the next 3 Saturdays. Call or just show up at 1:00 tomorrow.

Is there a website for this new place? When do the 5th/6th grade leagues start and how can you get the information for it?
